Everyone knows that the holiday season is a busy time of year, with many people rushing to avoid being late for holiday events, finish their shopping, or hurry home to enjoy their families. Now is a good time to remind everyone to take time to follow the established EHS practices at your facility and not take any short cuts to finish early or simply on time.
Incidents and accidents are more likely to happen when people are rushing. I have certainly had the experience of causing an incident by rushing and having the immediate thought of “why did I do that – I should have just slowed down!” In the end, situations like this end up taking way more time than it would have taken to just follow the established procedure and not take a short cut or rush. What would have taken an extra ten minutes can end up taking an extra two hours, or end in a much worse situation than just having to take extra time.
