OSHA is promoting their second annual Safe + Sound Week, which is taking place August 13-19, 2018. This week is intended to raise awareness around workplace safety and encourage the proactive implementation of strong safety programs. One of the ultimate goals of any safety program is to recognize workplace hazards and put controls in place to prevent injury or illness. Management is encouraged to participate in Safe + Sound Week, and employees are encouraged to participate in their company’s festivities for the week.
Whether you use Safe + Sound week to jump start your EHS program or shine light on an already robust program, be sure you are on top of the planning now. It is hard to believe this week is less than three months away! OSHA is encouraging activities that cover their three core elements of a health and safety program – management leadership, worker participation, and find and fix hazards. Creative, fun, and interactive sessions will encourage participation and learning. If you have not started brainstorming ideas yet, now is the time. Sufficient planning can lead to a valuable Safe + Sound Week!
