The Massachusetts Department of Public Health Radiation Control Program regulates the use of lasers through 105 CMR 121.000. Lasers that are classified as 3b or 4 must be registered with the Radiation Control Program by submitting a laser registration application.
The application form was recently updated, so be sure that you are using the updated form for any new applications. While walking through the labs at your facility, be sure to keep an eye out for any equipment with lasers. If lasers are present at your facility, be sure to maintain an active inventory of the lasers in use. Depending on the class of lasers in use, a laser safety program run by a laser safety officer may also be necessary.
If you have not done so already, take a walk through your facility to check for lasers and make sure that all class 3b and 4 lasers are registered with RCP.
