With the upcoming election on November 3rd, we provided #TeamSP with all the resources needed to vote! Here’s what we shared so you can vote too.
Having a plan is the best way to ensure you make your voice heard this election. This year, there are more ways to vote in Massachusetts than ever before. Every voter can choose to vote:
- By mail
- In-person, at an early voting site
- On Election Day, in person at your polling place
Registering to Vote:
- You can register to vote by Saturday, October 24, 2020. You now have until 10 days before the election to register to vote, due to an extension of the date from COVID-19.
- You can now register online. If you have a valid driver’s license, learner’s permit, or non-driver ID issued through the Massachusetts RMV you can register using this page.
- If you do not have these forms of ID you can still use this page to fill out your form, print, and mail the application to the appropriate election official.
Early Voting:
- Early Voting in Massachusetts will take place from October 17 – October 30.
- Early voting locations will be posted at least one week before early voting begins. Early voting can take place in-person and by mail.
- When available, early voting begins 11 days before and ends 2 days before Election Day.

Absentee Ballot / Mail-in Voting Process:
- Absentee voting and voting by mail are available and no excuse is required. The last day to request an absentee ballot is 6 days before the election (October 28, 2020).
- You can return your absentee ballot request form through the mail, in person, by fax, by email, or online.
- However you return it, the local election official must be able to see your signature in order to approve the request.
- Voted ballots must be received by Election Day in order to be counted. Request your ballot online here.
- Ballots can also be hand-delivered to a local election office or deposited in a designated dropbox. A list of offices and drop box locations is maintained by Galvin’s office here. Drop boxes will be monitored 24/7 by surveillance until 8 pm on Election Day.
- Each voter can also track the status of their mail-in ballot online.
In-person Voting on Election Day:
- In-person voting will still be available in every community on Election Day, as well as during the early voting period. Turnout is expected to be very high.
