Apr 17, 2009 – Safety Partners develops and implements workplace environmental, health and safety programs for more than 120 New England life sciences companies. It provides clients with cost-effective services for meeting environmental, health and safety regulations.

At a career workshop for UMass Lowell biology majors interested in pursuing careers in life sciences and related industries, Aronson shared her story of how she combined 10 years of bench-science biochemistry research with her lab management and lab-safety experience to launch Safety Partners in 1992.

"Life sciences companies are learning that workplace safety increases profitability and competitive advantages," said Aronson. "They look to us for safety services, including radiation safety, biosafety, chemical safety, animal care and use, laser safety and regulatory compliance. Safety Partners offers career opportunities for life science professionals with experiences in these areas and more."

Aronson also stressed the key traits that Safety Partners looks for when recruiting new employees, including their ability to read and comprehend complex materials, write effectively, think and work autonomously and in a team environment, and articulate well. While reviewing student resumes and offering advice on how to navigate their desired career paths, Aronson expressed the importance of networking with people in the industry, even as students.

"Networking will likely be the most important career skill you can develop," she explained. "Polishing your networking skills now will be as important as honing your skills in the lab."
