Technical Consulting Safety Officer (tCSO)
DEPARTMENT: Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (EHS) Program Development and Consulting
Reports to: Consulting Safety Officer

Level: tCSO
Work Hours: Part Time and Full Time Positions Available
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
Provide EHS support services and hands-on work at Safety Partners' clients under the direct supervision of a CSO.
MAIN JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- On-site client support work. Working with and under the direct supervision of a CSO to maintain policies and procedures for procurement, use and disposal of hazardous materials. Support functions for Safety Partners' and client staff responsible for EHS and Lab Management. Includes, but not limited to:
- Hands-on work to maintain and facilitate program requirements in radiation safety, biosafety, chemical safety programs - procurement, use, disposal.
- Hands-on work to maintain and facilitate General Safety Program - basic life safety: general fire safety, hazard awareness, emergency preparedness.
- Support work for EHS permitting. This may include filing applications, creating physical inventories, gathering paperwork, or other support functions as they apply to certain permits.
- Coordinate hazardous waste segregation, collection, disposal. This may include waste pouring.
- Ordering safety program materials, such as first aid supplies, spill kit supplies, signs, labels, etc.
- Routine monthly, weekly or daily tasks, such as fire extinguisher checks, emergency lighting checks, supplying first aid kits, satellite area checks, safety shower and eyewash flushing, bottle disposal, biowaste checks and radiation waste checks.
- Maintenance of the Hazard Communication program, including chemical inventory, MSDS files, and signs and labels.
- Other EHS program facilitation and implementation for general safety, chemical safety, biosafety and radiation safety under supervision of a CSO.

TRAINING/EDUCATION
- Associates degree in related field
- Some knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA or MWRA
- RCRA hazardous waste regulations
- OSHA emergency response courses, awareness level minimum

- Experience in a laboratory setting
- Radiation Protection – 1 or more classes
- Industrial Hygiene – 1 or more IH classes
- Principles and Practices of Biosafety or 1 or more classes targeted to biological safety in a research lab

JOB EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of science or EHS related work experience
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong communication and writing skills, including: reading comprehension, writing with accuracy, communicating with business savvy and interpersonal skills
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Able to pass a lung capacity test
- Other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time by the President.
